Gymnema sylvestre:

The plant, also known as Chiang Da, comes from the Apocynaceae plant family and has been used for centuries in Far Eastern countries such as Thailand, India and China. It is an integral part of Ayurvedic medicine and Traditional Thai Medicine (TTM). Gymnema sylvestre is particularly known for its properties as a natural insulin regulator and as a weight loss aid. Due to the wide range of applications, interest in the ingredients and their effects is also increasing in Europe. Among the numerous bioactive substances found are triterpenoid saponins such as gymnemic acids, which are responsible for the anti-diabetic effect.
