The brown root tubers, which grow exclusively in Thailand and Myanmar, are used. They have a high content of phytoestrogens, especially miroestrol.

Pueraria root tubers (Kwao Krua tubers) have a firm place in traditional Thai medicine and folk medicine. Often referred to as the “fountain of youth” or “superfood”, the root tuber is rich in oestrogen-like ingredients, which is why its consumption is particularly popular with women in Thailand. Some studies have demonstrated the presence of miroestrol with an oestrogen-like effect. Positive effects on menopausal symptoms, libido, the skin and the general well-being of women can be derived from the ingredients, but have not yet been verified by randomised double-blind studies. Pueraria mirifica is often referred to as a natural anti-ageing and rejuvenating agent, which also reduces the formation of wrinkles in the skin. Numerous reports of positive effects on premature or genetic hair loss have not yet been scientifically confirmed.
